Built on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, Seville, the capital of Andalusia, feels like an open-air museum full of magnificent buildings reflecting the city’s rich past. ARC 2025 attendees will have the opportunity to visit one of the most representative monumental sites in the city, the Royal Alcázar of Seville. Originally built in the 10th century as a fortress for the Islamic government, it is the oldest royal palace still in use in Europe.
The historical evolution of the city during the last millennium is gathered within its walls and gardens, amalgamating influences starting from the Arabic period and late Middle Ages Mudéjar, to the Renaissance, Baroque and the XIX century. The declaration of World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987 acknowledged the survival of cultures and civilizations as a harmonic whole, where all of the elements were balanced.
